I've also added the VY side mirrors and increased the wheel size. One the smaller rear picture you can see that I have added the new tail lights from the HSV Coupe, and an aviation-style fuel filler. I have called this car the Monaro SCX (Sports Coupe Crossover).

VY Sandman Panel Van

Now that Holden has re-introduced the Panel Van to the Holden lineup it seems logical to make a Sandman version. Inspired by a picture I found of a HX Sandman which was yellow with blue stripes and had five spoke wheels. I've done two versions a blue and a yellow both with unique Sandman five-spoke alloys.

Could this be the face of the WK
 11 Jan 2003
Another image I found was the one on the left. It has been debated previously whether or not it is a sketch of the LWB WK range to be released in the coming months. The closer you look the more you see
 11 Jan 2003
I was looking at some of the development photos released for the VY Commodore and noticed this in the background of one of the pictures. It appears to be an outline of a panel van, and above it a numerous concept sketches also of panel vans. These could have been taken while the Sandman Concept car was being developed, or Holden might have been, or are, considering re-introducing the Panel Van to the Holden lineup.

Holden's Plans for 2003
 12 Dec 2003
An automotive website has reported on the new models that Holden will be releasing during 2003.

"The first quarter sees the arrival of the Monaro facelift, long wheelbase Commodores and new Rodeo utes and cab chassis. Monaro gains the VY's interior and minor external changes, while long wheelbase Statesman and Caprice will also benefit from styling upgrades with new interiors, and front and rear redesigns. About August, Holden's four wheel drive onslaught starts with the 5.7-litre V8 auto-only wagon with beefed up visuals and a higher ride height, followed by the Cross8 dual cab 4WD ute about October, running the same mechanical configuration and expected to be priced from about $50,000."

Some rumours regarding 'Future Holdens' have also appeared on LS1.com.au, don't know how reliable these are, but they did also mention new Monaro to get VY interior, new wheels, and purple paint, and that was right so who knows.

"Holden will be releasing a SS wagon next year, Holden will not be releasing a Turbo V6, SSX will not go into production, Limited Edition SS with 19" wheels due mid next year, Rear lights of new Statesman/Caprice look similar to current Fairlane, Caprice comes with DVD screens standard mounted behind the front seats, Caprice SS due out next year, Holden were going to release a sports version Calais called the 'Calais Plus' with more kW, leather interior, body kit and 18" wheels for $70,000+ but it as now been canned"
