Team Brock unveiled
new livery for its twin Commodore 2003 attack prior to V8 Supercar
practice at Albert Park today.
Prime sponsor Betta Electrical will
join forces with Dupont, Mobil, Bridgestone and Holden to field
VX Commodores for new drivers Jason Bright and Paul Weel.
The team has restructured significantly
for the upcoming season to the same industrial park as Holden Racing
Team and Kmart Racing in Melbourne, to enable the sharing of technology
in a move to introduce economies of scale in the preparation of
competitive Holden racing cars.
"Holden thought it was in our
best interests to upscale operations after our toe in the water
exercise for 2002," Peter Brock said.
"We decided that a technology-sharing
arrangement would serve us best in the future," Ray Borrett,
Holden's Director of Performance Vehicles and Motorsport, said.
"The HRT and Kmart program over
the past two years has shown conclusively that business and cost
efficiencies can be achieved while still retaining a fierce level
of independence on track between the cars and teams.
"The addition of Team Brock to
this equation will ensure higher levels of competition and strengthen
Holden's opportunity of continued success in the V8 Supercar category,"
he said.
Team Brock will operate under the existing
franchises of Kees Weel and Rod Imrie. The principal of the team
is Kees Weel, with Peter Brock as spokesman and John Panozzo operating
as team manager.
